Has anyone read any biographys on Lee?

I read a few bios on Lee. I even bought a book that has a compilation of his letters.

I have. In fact I'm doing a research paper on him at the moment...
The best I have read so far is the volumes by Freeman.

Ive heard of that Biography... Never read it though.

Freeman...Freeman. Hum. I've never heard of Freeman or his works.

Really? He is one of the most praised for his Lee bio. Four volumes in all....

I found it free on the internet as an eBook but I havent gotten around to reading it. If any one wants the link Ill give it to them.

Civ, please have the respect to at least call him General Lee. Now, we have to agree that Lee was the greatest commander of the war. Possably in all of American history. Never before in the annals of military history has a general prevailed for so long against such odds. Seriously, the man was consistently outnumbered 2-1. And that's on a good day lol.

Well, Sir, If you notice the other threads that I have started, all of them are "Mr.___" Should I only call Lee this? Or how about just Grant?

Please, I didn't mean to offend. I just thought that Lee was deserving of his title. The same for Stuart, Jackson, etc. Now as to Grant...... you can leave him as a 'mr.' The same goes for Sherman.

AS far as I can tell Lee was a brilliant strategist as well as a great leader and trainer of his troops. And even though he lessened up on drills and such do to lack of supplies, he still seemed do get a better return from his soldiers then any union General did. Even though he was for the south(lol), I still admire him for his courage and dedication to his country and it's people.

Then why are you commending him for it? (hint: if it was wrong then it isnt commendable!)

He's really confused, Gen. Lee. Anyway, Lee was the greatest general produced by the war, for either side, and that's all there is too it.

I didnt say i was commending Lee, i was commending his courage that he possesed. Get it yet Lee?

Terrorists have courage to do wrong things... Are you commending them too?

That's not courage Lee, you should know that.

(I agree... You shouldnt call a terrorist courageous they are wrong as you say that Lee was wrong) What in efect you are saying is... (example) Hitler was wrong but he had courage to stand up for what he believed and dared to make a difference. Do you commend Hitler for that? Same with Lee... If you say "Lee was wrong, he fought for wrong... " but yet you commend him for having the courage to fight for the wrong? lol NO if someone is wrong you dont commend them for having had the courage to fight for the wrong.... Do you?

Ok now you are confusing me Lee. Ofcourse I wouldent commend them for what they did wrong.
