getting back to the subject, (ahem) I always thought that Fort Pillow was made out to be more than it was because the union won and were able to write tht story afterwards. I have to do some more reading tho....

It wasn't because the north won. The story of the massacre came out right afterwords. As a matter of fact, I think the South is made out to be the good guys in almost every situation. I doubt they would have been seen as much if Stonewall Jackson could be studied in depth. He once said that if he had it his way they would never take prisoners and just kill every living Yank.

Ok so where did you get that quote? Btw Nathan B. F. in a speech to blacks (Btw Black is not a racial term nessessarily. In this instance I am just specifing out a certian type... class... of people.) said that he viewed them as his equals... The only difference between them being their color. (This was after the war).

That is a very Jackson-like quote, and I think I heard it before, but remember that Jackson was a very passionate person, and probably only spoke thus in a rage. I doubt those were his true feelings. Besides, action speaks louder than words; Did Jackson ever order all of his prisoners executed? No. I would think that this tells more than a few ill-spoke words.

I found it in a book. Can't remember which book. They also say the same thing in Gods and Generals.

Well, you didn't even really quote Jackson, you only put his quote into context. If you could come up with the real quote I'd appreciate it, and I'm sure Gen. Lee and Vindicator would also....
