Yes it is. It is about King Leonidas and his 300 Spartans as they fight off the Persian Army. Its a very good movie for it's time (1960's).

Since IBG is being vague about 300 Spartans here's a little more info. It is based on actual events in Greece aboout 480 b.c. Leonidas is a Greek soldier who leads 300 Spartans against an overwhelming Persian army.

He can't recruit the soldiers he need to defend a critical mountain pass against King Xerxes, but he prepares for the battle anyway. He is warned that they won't win because the odds are big. Anyway, from there IBG can be more descriptive.

Yes I can. The story begins with Xerexes moving his massive army into Greece. Meanwhile they capture a Spartan spy who is one of the commanding leaders of the Spartan arm and has him tell the Greeks of the might of the Persians. Meanwhile, Leonidas and Demistoclias (a Athenian philosepher and politican) are trying to unite Greece. The athenian makes the first step to unity by surrendering his naval command to the Spartans. They plan to hold the Persians at the Termopoly gap through the mountains.
For three days they hold thier ground against the best the Persians have to offer. Then, thier fortunes turn when a goat herder betrays a little used goat track to the Persians that leads behind the Greeks. Most of the Greeks escape except for an army of 700 Thessolians and 300 Spartans. Both forces are wiped out.
