| I thought I'd reply to this, and give my suggestions as to authentic hairstyles. The most authentic hairstyle I can achieve without using a whole lot of things, is to part my hair, after it has been parted in the middle, at the back of my head, just behind my ears. I then do that to both sides of my head, pulling both sides forward, and putting up the back section into a bun, or braided bun. Taking the two front sections, I start rolling it at the front of my head until I have rolled the whole section. Then I wrap the ends around the bun in the back of my head. This is the most basic hairstyle that can be done. As far as hair pins, I use some really big ones that are not a regular shape. As I have thick hair, these hold very well. That's all for now! More will come later... | |

| Quite an interesting conversation y'all are having. And to think, it is all about hairstyles! Well, shall I continue with my tips? Yes, I think I will. Another tip I ran across this past weekend at Cedar creek is for those who have layered hair (girls only please!). I did another friend's hair, trying to do a more authentic style, and trying to control the layers in her hair. When I rolled the two sections like I said in the last post, then braided the back into a bun. The front parts of her hair held amazingly well! Another style I came across this past weekend is one that when done correctly is very pretty. I separated my other friend's hair into four section after splitting her hair all the way down the middle. I then braided each section, which would then be wrapped around the back of her head then tucked up under the top braid and bobby pinned. It turned out very nice, and it held very nice too. I hope this helps, Civility. | |

| I'll have to say that going from Hairstyles to sigs is quite a feat. Now going back to hairstlyes will be an even greater feat, let's see if y'all can do it. lol, alright, I'm just teasing. I will agree with Civ though, Stuart, nice sig! | |

| *shaking head* 'Tis a shame in seeing a topic go from "1860 hairstyles" to General Stuart's beard. ( ) I really don't have any more tips...at the moment for hairstyles, but when I do find more, I will definitely let y'all know. | |

| this will be my last post on this subject for a little bit. :-) Anyway, during my research I came across this site that was very helpful in creating an authentic hairstyle for my mom and three sisters. http://www.gothampatterns.com/hair.html Though the pictures didn't load on the site for me, I was able to open them up in another window and was able to view them. | |

| Hey Trin!!! Havent seen you for a while, nice for you to be back Myself, I like longer hair....not sure why. Braids are good too, it doesnt REALLY matter as long as its long And i like it when girls dont mess with there hair, you know try to die it different colors. Its much more beautiful if its natural, I think | |

| Good to see you Trin. About hair, I'd have to say I don't have a definite favorite, between long hair and short, but I'm leaning towards long... In the end it really depends on the girl. | |
