William Quantrill

Quantrill was in my opinion the worst villian of the war. He's lucky he died before the hangman's noose got him.

He trampled enemy troopers into the ground while they slept, he burned towns, massacred entire male populations, ordered his men to beat little boys, shot little boys, hung civilians, and shot lots of women. He would shoot pigs in the ears just to hear them squeal, nailed snakes to trees, stabbed hoses, and sliced open cows.

But, don't let me influence your decisions. Choose as you feel fit.

Good ol' Sherman gets the spot.

Well, Sherman allowed entire towns to be levelled by his men, the inhabitants raped, robbed, and sent on their way without anything but the clothes on their backs... So what do you think?

Yeah, dont mean to "turn" on you guys, but I don't think Sherman (personally) was a bad guy. Though maybe slightly crazy, he was a good father and husband to his wife. Does that mena that he had the rights to do all that stuff? Nope.

Well, seeing as Civ has always said this about Sherman, it doesn't suprise me. What does suprise me is that you are all acting like lunitics in an offtopic thread (wait, on the other hand, not really).

Actually, I've changed my opinion. Well, I have learned about another bushwacker. Bloody Bill Anderson is side by side with Quantrill.

I recently read about his exploits during the CW in America's Civil War Magazine.

During the Centralie Massacre, he lined up the whole towns' population, and ordered them to turn out all thier gold. A young man hide his mothers' gold in his shoe, for it was all they had left to subsist on. When he was threatened with death if they searched him and found money, he relented and pulled some money out, and was promptly executed.

Meanwhile, while all this was going on, 24 Union soldiers were arriving from Georgia on furlough, at least 10 of them badly wounded. They were on a train, and the conductor was about to stop, when he saw the bushwackers. He pulled it at full throtle and he was going to bulldoze his way out, but the fireman freaked out, and pulled the train to a stop. He was killed almost instantly by the bushwackers.

The 24 men were ordered off the train, and stripped naked by the Andersons men. Anderson condemned them to death for killing one and badly mauling another of his two sisters in Missouri(they had been in a prison when it collapsed. They tried explaining that they had been in Georgia, but, he said that all Yanks were alike, and shot them all down while they were naked.

One did escape and hide in the train station. When the men tried to get him, he had locked the door. So, they burned the place down. Suddenly, he sprang out with a club, knocked down a man, then was brutually killed.

After doing so, they were about to leave the town for good, when 150 men from an infantry regiment arrived on horses. They pursued the enemy out of town, then formed a tight battleline. Anderson wheeled his command around, and slaughtered all but 20 of the men, who ran exceptionally fast.

Many of them men were found beheaded, and their heads swaped and placed with other bodies. In one case, one mans gentils had been cut off and stuck in his mouth. Most had been scalped.

So, yeah, he's as bad as Quantrill.
